What’s up world. I just received word that a beat I sold a New York based artist is ready for the world to peep, buy and generally roll to and feel good on. His name is Wally Wells and he’s on his grind, doing his thing at clubs around the city. If you’re in the New York City area, look him up and check him out. He and his dude, Simple Danny do their thing on top of my production on this one. Here’s the track:

New Track “New House Jam”

This track might take the cake for “Worst Track Title Ever”, as it’s neither a jam nor house music. We moved over the weekend last week and this was the first joint I did in the new place, thus the name “new house jam”. It’s hard to name your files at the start of a project, before you have anything laid down, and no real idea where the music might take you, which might be one of the reasons my track names could all be swapped out – one for another.

No matter…

The track is another laid back, vibe out, enjoy some sunshine, grab a drink and kick it with your friends and family style joint. I hope you dig it as much as I do. Do share it with your friends and, as always, if you need beats or production help for a project you’re working on, you know what to do.

Until next time….

New Track “West Coast Swing”

by Tyler Smith on March 26, 2012

What’s up world. Got a new joint for your listening pleasure. Hope you dig it as much as I do. I had pretty much finished the beat and then I couldn’t get Snoop Dogg’s opening line out of my head – from the track “2001″ off the album “Tha Doggfather” where he says “All I wanna do is make the whole crowd bounce ya’ll.” So I thought it would be easy enough to add it. So I did. And I think it sounds pretty dope thrown in there. It definitely captures the essence of the purpose of the track.

You already know what to do if you’re feeling any of the beats you’re peepin on this site. Hit me up and we’ll work.

Until next time…

What’s up world. It’s been a minute, but I haven’t forgotten about you and I sure haven’t stopped making music. I’ve been hard at work – working my job, feeding my family, leading worship at a local church plant in the south end of Seattle and making as many beats as time and God will allow. So, this fine Tuesday afternoon I thought I would post my most recent work: three new tracks for your enjoyment. Hope that you find this music brightens your mood and lifts your spirits.

Until next time…

New Track “Drop Top In The Summer”

by Tyler Smith on February 3, 2012

What’s up ya’ll. It’s been a minute since I posted and I’ve been working on quite a few new projects. Of course I’m trying to keep my feet wet making beats. Maybe it’s the fact that here in Seattle, it’s absolutely gorgeous outside (it’s been a minute, believe me) or maybe it’s the fact that it’s Friday, but either way, I felt like sharing one of my newer joints with everyone, and hope that it’s a blessing and helps lift you up when you hear it.

This beat is a mid tempo, laid back groove, that just felt summer-ee to me. You already know I love that rich, harmonic sound and I think I’ve been carving out a niche for myself with my use of synths, pianos, pads, etc. It’s just the sound that I love best and I hope you dig it too.

As always, if you need beats, hit me up and we’ll work.

Until next time.

Blessings.

Did you know that infamous, northwest, underground rapper Luck One and I did a track together? If not, you’re sleeping. Personally, and I know I’m a bit biased, I would say this joint goes hard. Luck is just the kind of rapper that I like to see blessing my tracks – super talented dude, tons of deep content and a great delivery.

Regarding the track, I chopped up a super dope Maze/Frankie Beverly sample by the same name and gave it my summer time, g-funk swagger, and of course Luck killed it. He does his thing. We got some other stuff in the hopper – not sure when it’ll be coming down the pike, but when it does, you’ll be sure to hear about it right here.

Feel free to download and enjoy for free below and please share with your friends.

From the vaults (the 6 month old vaults or so) comes a super dope, summer, bbq type joint featuring local hip hop artist Jamal Jones on all the verses. If you don’t know him, now you know. Yours truly provided the hook for the vocals.

I had the opportunity to work with Jamal on this track and am looking forward to producing additional music for him, as he’s a super talented dude. Unfortunately, neither of us had any plans for the track, and I just couldn’t let it go to waste. I really wanted people to be able to enjoy this and I hope you do.

So…without further adieu, here’s Jamal Jones, “Always On My Mind”.

Until next time…

New Track – “Saturday Funk”

by Tyler Smith on December 19, 2011

What up world. It’s been a minute. I’ve been involved in quite a few things music related as of late. Unfortunately, not much of it allows me the same amount of time and focus on strictly beat producing, but every now and again I’ve been able to steal away for a few hours and try to bang out some music.

I really love all aspects of music creation. I’ve been leading a worship band for church for the past five or six months or so and it has been such an awesome experience – musically rewarding in a totally different way than producing hip hop. There are defined structures in place and parameters that must be adhered to when I’m working on arrangements for church music. There are chord progressions, which we can change, but might not want to stray away from too far for the sake of familiarity. There are rhythmic patterns that the church is familiar with in traditional hymns, and thought must be paid to those forms when I’m approaching a song to re-arrange and add a new feel: kind of like a remix. Perhaps I’ll write a more in depth post on my personal process of re-arranging classic church music.

But, there is just something about taking the gloves off every once in a while and free-flow creating. Letting the music write itself in large part. Which is what I was able to do this weekend for a bit. Here are the fruits of this labor of love. Hope you dig it:

New Track – “2011 Funk”

by Tyler Smith on November 18, 2011

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

I realize 2011 is almost over, but poor naming conventions aside I present to you a new track for purchase, “2011 Funk”. I’ve been extremely busy as of late with my day job as well as a recently accepted music position at a local church here in Seattle, which is where most of my production and arranging efforts have been focused for the last few months. Unfortunately, this means I’ve had less time to make beats.

As an artist, sometimes you just have to create – with no requirements or restrictions placed on your art – and make something that you like. Period. People have asked me “what is this for?”. My response, “nothing.” I hope someone does purchase this track, for sure, but I don’t have a client or project in mind at this point – and I didn’t when I was writing. I was just….writing.

So, as always, I hope you dig what you hear. If you’re interested in purchasing any of the beats on the Portfolio page, or interested in chatting about your upcoming project, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Until next time…

New Track – “Don’t Trip”

by Tyler Smith on September 14, 2011

Here’s a new beat for your listening pleasure. It’s definitely a divergence for me from my “normal” sound. Tried to keep this one pretty sparse, with a lot of room for a dope rap artist to do their thing on.  The focus on this track, when all is said and done will definitely be the rap vocal. You can find a lot more beats for your next project by visiting the portfolio page. Feel free to contact me if you’re interested in anything you hear. As always, thanks for listening.

Until next time…
